Metal Art by Adrian Beacham

My journey in metal art is somewhat accidental. An initial career in automotive and mechanical systems eventually progressed to working with designers and engineers and culminating as a trainer. This insight allowed me to visualise how things could be made to suit a purpose or improved on, leading to designing and creating items to be aesthetically pleasing. Having taken an early retirement, I now dedicate some of my time to making my artistic visions a reality.

My metal art is a combination of different skills from metal forming and forging. Often I will combine with other mediums such as glass, wood and stone. I recycle a lot of material to create my metal art because the creative vision comes from the different shapes seen in some objects. Some of my earlier works were predominantly wrought iron designs. Garden arches, gazebos and wrought iron furniture were the main focus. Function and form all had a place in the designs.  More recently I am inspired by the area I live in and the animals I encounter.

I never considered myself an artist until I exhibited some of my work in the Brighton Jetty Sculptures exhibition in 2023. Some well known artists referred to me as an artist and commented on my work. This lead me to look at my work with a different perspective and seek to continually improve my art. The full realisation of my achievements was recognised when I won the Barossa Arts Festival Garden Art Competition in 2024.

Sometimes I work with my talented wife Ann. She is an accomplished glass artist and there are often collaborations of our work. I am always looking for ideas and inspiration, and am always open to creating individual pieces of art to suit your needs and ideas.
